What makes Ella's training different?

Ella's background in yoga and functional movement gives her training style a unique edge. Her guidance is encouraging and supportive, with a strong focus on form and mindfulness. Evidence-based research supports her coaching as she keeps herself updated with the latest information in the field of fitness and movement. Ella adapts her methods to incorporate what she learns, to give you the most optimal and efficient experience.  

Her priority in training you is to ensure that your body has a strong foundation to add load to. This means:

1. Your core is strong and functional. This has nothing to do with having a six pack, but everything to do with your breath as well as the mobility and stability of your joints. 

2. Your nervous system understands and can execute the main functional movement patterns that are part of human movement (e.g. squat, lunge, hinge, push, pull, etc). 

With a strong foundation, along with regular and progressive training, you will notice huge results in how your body feels (and looks). 

What can I expect in my training with Ella?

Your first session with Ella will be a sit-down chat to talk about your goals, your exercise and medical history, your lifestyle, etc. It's important for Ella to get to know as much as she can about you, so that your programme can be tailored to best suit your schedule, your likes/dislikes and your abilities.

 

In her programming, Ella uses the following:

Breath/core work

Free weights (kettlebells, dumbbells, etc)

Power lifts 

Animal movements

Mobility work

Metabolic conditioning

HIIT training

Pilates and Functional Yoga exercises

What if I have an injury or a medical condition that can get in the way of exercising?

Ella is passionate about working alongside health professionals so that you can benefit from having the expertise of a team of people to help you. 

If you have an injury or a condition that you're currently managing, Ella can communicate with your doctor and/or physio in order to know which exercises are recommended to do or to avoid. If you have an injury or pain in your body that you haven't addressed yet with a professional, Ella has a physio that she works closely with that she can refer you to.

Where do we train?

Ella's training hub is at Tomfit in Albany, Auckland. To get the best experience from your training, with access to a variety of equipment and a great community vibe, Ella recommends coming here for your sessions. For more privacy or a quiet space to train in, Ella has a home studio in Rothesay Bay. If you prefer, she also offers a mobile service where she can come to you at your home.
